Create An Income From Low Cost Sites

by Mark Thompson

If you still need to hold down a full time job while at the same time trying to build up your online portfolio you should be looking to build income from projects that take little time and maintenance. It’s all very well for someone to write a book telling you to create a site then submit 5 articles a day for a month (This was really the recommendation in a report I read this week!) but it’s not realistic. Yes you could outsource the work but you’d soon have spent $750-$1000 before you’d made a cent. This is now money that you have to recuperate before you are in profit.

At the Income academy membership site we have had numerous people join who have spent a lot of money on e-books and programs but have no income to show for it. This is usually due to a number of things. either they haven’t had the time or the programs have been developed for users with more expertise.

In one case a member had spent over $1500 and hadn’t made any money back. What they failed to realize that no matter what the program or type of site you will still need to promote it.

Earlier this week I was in a forum I usually visit and a guy way laying out his plans for the week. he was going to build 30 sites and then see which ones performed. I tried to explain that his time would be best spent just building 1 or 2 sites and spending time promoting these. With out promotion none of the sites will prosper so he will have just wasted a week and the money he spent on 30 domains.

Try to find yourself some sites that don’t take long to build and have a minimum amount of maintenance required. This will free up more of your time to promote these sites. Once you have made some profit you can then look at outsourcing. it’s also a lot easier to make mistakes on 1 or 2 small sites than it is on 30 sites that you’ve just put up.

Before I moved onto my current projects I chose to build a number of Adsense sites. These took up very little time once they were built and I was able to promote them and update them on a regular basis. As soon as I was getting a good Income from them I was able to move on to other projects. I knew that whatever happened I had the income from the Adsense sites to fall back on.

If you are starting out or have yet to be successful take advantage of the free resources around you. Earlier in the year I combined 2 free resources with 2 monetization methods on a domain that cost me $8. This site takes less than 10 minutes a week to update. So far it’s earned me in excess of $300. This isn’t a huge amount but it’s a regular income that could help you to move on to bigger things plus it costs me nothing and it only takes 10 minutes a week. All I used was Wordpress and Google alerts and Adsense and a Data Feed.

There are many free resources available. a quick search around the internet and a few forums will throw up a whole host of them.

The example above was just one way that you can build sites cheaply that require very little maintenance. Anything that can save you both time and money should be a priority when you are starting out. If you would like more ideas like these please check out The Income Academy you’ll find details below
