Web Marketing Plan Reveals Five Steps To A Moneymaking Affiliate

by Trisha Frauenhofer

When you want to go into affiliate marketing, there are plenty of things to think about beforehand. A lot of would be affiliate marketing newbies make the mistake of thinking that this is free money and no thought needs to go into their strategy. This is not all the case, a lot of affiliates fold quickly because they haven’t taken the time to come up with a workable web marketing plan.

There are five essential steps to getting an affiliate marketing business off the ground and working well. Without the proper preparations, you may make no money at all - which sort of defeats the purpose of starting a business. First off, do some research on the affiliate marketing plan that has grabbed your interest before you take the step of signing up for it. It doesn’t matter who is endorsing the program or what kind of commission the plan is paying out. Remember, relevance is everything in a web marketing plan like this. If the program is something which will not appeal to the target market you’ve been trying to win over with your site, you’re not going to make many conversions.

Don’t use someone else’s ad copy. It is very important to write your own copy. There’s a lot of affiliate marketing programs out there, a lot of them using identical ad copy for their pitches. People just start to lose interest after seeing the same ads from 20 different marketers. Remember, people these days are bombarded with advertising everywhere they go. If you want your web online business to stand out from the rest, you’re going to need fresh, compelling copy to do so. Write, revise, refine. Unique copy gets results.

One thing that may help you as it has other affiliate marketers is the judicious use of the signature function in their email client. Don’t put too many links in there, this is more or less a form of spamming when you do this. Make your signature no more than five lines, not all of which should be links. You’ll want the first line to be something which your target market will find compelling. Remember, you want to catch your readers eyes, not turn them off with too many links or other gimmicks in your email messages. Used properly, this can be an important part of your affiliate marketing.

Spring for a website of your own. You’ve probably seen an affiliate marketer’s site which was hosted through Yahoo or another free provider. It looked a bot cheap and definitely unprofessional, didn’t it? Using a free site sends a message to viewers - this guy/gal isn’t making money with their web marketing plan, they’re using a free website! It’s not expensive to get your own site, so do it. The enhancement to the image of your business is well worth the small expense.

Be sure to capture your leads before you send them on to the affiliate site. Now, there really isn’t anything wrong with letting them go on through to the product page, however, you don’t know if they will decide to buy the product or not. If they don’t buy the product, they are gone. If they do buy the product, they buy it and are gone. What if you had their email address and were able to communicate with them? You could convince someone who wasn’t planning on buying to actually change his or her mind and make a purchase. If they don’t, you can keep trying them until they do. With the people who do buy, you can create great customer support to keep a good customer line going and some residual income.

International affiliate marketing can be a great way to make money, but many people fail to go about it in a way that will bring them success. If you follow these simple steps given above, you’ll be able to take your online marketing plan much farther than those who do not prepare properly.

In general you’ll want to stay clear of very popular affiliate programs. Believe it or not, the more nichy you can get the better off you are. Try to keep this in mind, especially in the beginning stages of your affiliate marketing.
