Reduce Refunds on Information Products (Ebooks part 2)
In my last article, I gave you some easy ideas to beef up your PDF ebook. Have you added a Table of Contents and a Resource Guide to your PDF e-books? If so, you are ready to finish adding bulk to your ebook which will increase your customer satisfaction and reduce refunds.
First, make sure that you use 12-point text (Times New Roman is the best choice for large sections of text). Make all pictures and graphics large, so they are easy to read. That’s a valuable service to your readers, one that also adds bulk to your book. Make your information interesting and entertaining by adding graphics, comics, and more. This is an important consideration when designing or developing information products.
You also want to use “johnson boxes” every 2-3 pages. Those are the boxes that encapsulate an important point. This adds bulk and helps clue the reader to an important concept you are trying to get across.
Tell your audience about other products you offer. They’ve already read your wonderful e-book, but want more information. Include a list of your products, complete with 3-D cover photos. Not only will you add visual interest, you will also increase sales and offer a better product. It’s easy, and it works!
Include cheat sheets and checklists for your customers - they really love it! If your topic has more than two or three steps, consider a checklist. It’s a great way to convey information, especially on technical topics (using a digital camera; interview tips; great tips for buying a new home). Cheat sheets and checklists make this information easy to follow, increasing value for your readers.
When writing an e-book, take that concept to the next level. Look for other items to include in your e-book. Depending on your subject, your customers might like a sample contract or other form, a convenient spread sheet, or something else which helps them to understand how to do things. Why make them re-invent the wheel? If the tools exist, offer them to your customers.
These simple tips will add meat to your e-book. By adding value to your product, you will have happier customers, healthy sales, and fewer returns. To your customers, it’s all about the value - give ‘em what they want, and your product will be a success.
