Be Your Own Boss

by Russell M. Stewart

If you have some time and want to earn money sitting at home, if you have lost your job and want to get some money , or if health or family problems do not allow you to go out to earn, there are websites which give you information about jobs on the net.

A website is available which will give you the necessary information on this topic. It is www.stepsway.com which has a couple of posts at present which tell a person how to go about getting work on the net and getting paid for it by sitting at home and working at leisure.

All that you need is a desk and a good internet connection. You can choose your time, when your children are at school or daycare or when the baby is sleeping and all your housework is done. There are no fixed timings, no boss to breathe down your shoulder and no commuting. You save on gas and on your time so it is a win-win situation for you to work from home. Isn’t that great? You are your own boss.

A disadvantage is that there will not be insurance cover nor will you have any fringe benefits of working at a regular job. Also you will not have people around you to share or talk. Also you may be worried about the payment part. After all, everyone works for money and you need to know how the payment will be made for the work you have done. These net jobs have their own modes of payment. They may make payments online or through email transfer into your bank or you may even be able to ask for a check to pay for your work.

Some of the websites that offer work are:
1. www.odesk.com
2. www.getafreelancer.com
3. www.scriptlancer.com
4. www.guru.com

These are four websites that are currently in use. Others may be just exploring the possibilities. These four are the ‘currently hired and getting paid’ websites. oDesk may be shining because of its outstanding team software. It was designed to monitor the activities and work done by employees through mouseclicks, keyboard use and screenshots. There is no registration fee and you can download the team pack software free. oDesk earns 10% fee added on the wages earned by service providers. It supports both fixed-rate and hourly payments on projects.

The Business week Magazine has termed oDesk as a leader in the field. Odysseas Tsatalos and Stratis Karamanlakis got this name from ‘no desk’. The original plan was of people able to work from anywhere and at anytime and it was started in 2003. The employers and employees can come from any country.

Here are some useful points while working for oDesk: Your profile page should be attractive as it is your ‘face’. Take all the tests offered. Put down your special skills in your profile page so that the employer can see it at a glance. Put you educational qualifications, the hours you can spend, your lowest payment expectations, hobbies, working experience and anything that you may feel is you asset to be displayed. Then you can go to the find job page and find work. And then you can begin in real earnest and you will be able to earn money as fast as you can.
